eSport events and tournaments have been organized for many years now. In the early days of Counter-Strike 1.6 it was mostly the large tournament brands like CPL, WCG and DreamHack that hosted the tournaments with the largest prize-pools.
Today, new brands have taken the top spots in regards of prize-money. Brands like ESL and IEM and it’s fun too see that the pioneers behind the DreamHack organization are still hosting world class events!
The list belows ranks the top10 events, in regards of prize-pools to this date (7th of March 2016). Information was acquired from esportsearnings.com.
Unfortunately the prize-pool amount of $250k seem to have become a standard. But I’m sure some of the organizers will break the bubble soon and raise the stakes!
