Rachet And Clank Future – A Crack In Time – Video Game Review

Rachet and Clank Future – A Crack in Time is the perfect sequel to its previous games. Rachet and Clank have been pals for what seems like forever and this time we actually get to see Clank take a step from the shadows. This game has some new characters mixed with old and contains some new features and ideas that compliment the old style it also carries. With its improved game play and amazingly detailed worlds to explore, this game will have you glued to your TV screen.

While Rachet still has the upper hand as the game progresses, Clank finds his way into mission solving as well. His puzzles are even more challenging with thought provoking puzzles to solve. He has to solve a group of time based puzzles that will try at every thought process that you have.

In order to complete one mission, you have to realize how to make small clones of yourself in order to help you achieve perfect balance on every button. The door will only open when all buttons are pressed at the same time.

Each puzzle is located in a new room with time pads buttons and a locked door. You have to work closely with your other selves in order to achieve the precise timing of button pressing. Rachet`s puzzles are more straight forward and less of a mind boggle.

This game has excellent shooting controls and smooth sailing bullets. If you find yourself being swarmed by bad enemies you can simply take them all down with ease, using the quick response you get from the weapons.

There are loads of weapons to pick from including a shot gun and a sniper. The more enemies that you destroy the quickly you can upgrade your weapons and earn new points.

In the game you will explore worlds and solve puzzles while meeting lots of interesting characters. The characters in the game all have the same humorous tone and your mission will be one of laughter and of an upbeat tone.

In the beginning Caption Quark gives you a general breakdown of the game and of the past, so that you will understand what is happening. It is geared toward new players who have never actually played one of the Racket and Clank video games. It will assist anyone who doesn`t know what some of the terms and names mean.

This particular game is the conclusion to the story that first appeared in Tools of destruction in 2007. The game features a familiar ground while adding its own special highlights and features.

Some issues with the game were minimal. It was noted that at times your character would slam into an invisible wall during jumps and leaps. This only poses a problem if it in some way causes you to die. The only other concern was that the camera doesn`t always follow the player up to speed. So as your character dashes from one place to another, the camera at times needs time to catch up resulting in blurry graphics.

In general the overall game has amazing worlds that contain very detailed aspects to each place you explore. Space is a favourite for many, because of the fact you can go anywhere you want in it. Even though it may only take ten hours to finish the game, you can easily go back and do it again because there are lots of levels and worlds to choose from.

Mass Affect 2 – Video Game Review

Mass affect 2 is a game that has made some small changes from its first version. Some say the graphics are better and others say there are some miner bugs in the game. And while there are some pros and cons to this exciting game, most gamers would agree that they are up for the challenge and can’t wait to play it.

Almost everyone is attracted to the universe, so for anyone who is also a gamer, putting the two together can be magic for some people. This game has you spinning through the universe on a ship that had to be replaced. The first one blew up just seconds into the game.

The game begins with a tragedy as the SSV Normandy is attacked and blown to pieces and the fate of the protagonist Sheppard is unclear. Your job is to investigate the situation and look for clues. You also need to confront vicious forces behind the mystery. You owe an illusive man your life and he follows you wherever you go and stays in your shadows.

You rebuild a new team called the Normandy SR-2. Your team consists of wild characters that might have you in stitches laughing with their antics and jokes. Your crew will help you battle out any enemies shall they come your way.

The main plot is conventional science fiction and has a predictable close. You have to complete missions but not all missions are combating but as you build through the developments you actually build on your characters development. The writing and dialogue between characters is excellent and the characters have detailed facial expressions and voice matched to feelings giving into that sense of reality.

You can go into a third person shooter. Sliding the cover is easy, however as you move in and out of positions and hideaway locations, your characters, actions may be delayed enough to have you killed, these bugs in the game have some people complaining.

If you want to change weapons there is no more pop up screen to quickly access. This time you have to go all the way to the weapons locker room, to find your weapon and have it. Many gamers did not enjoy that feature at all.

The worst part of this game noted by reviews was the constant scanning that needed to be done. This is where a lot of game play is wasted. The reticule is slow and the entire process of doing it is long and worn out.

The shooting in number two has been much improved and contains all of the things you would expect in a battle targeted game. You can actively explore the worlds and meet many new characters that will prove to be only too helpful as your journey continues.

The game adjusts to the challenges and moves that you make. In the end of the game the choices that you made as you went along will determine the type of ending you get. This game will have you pushing right to the end just to see what happens.

This game got mostly good reviews. Everyone loved the idea of traveling through space, especially when a great crew was involved. It was also noted that many people did not find the bugs in the game to be too concerning and were able to continue in the game with no more distractions.

Bourne Conspiracy Video Game Review

Being a fan of the Robert Ludlums Bourne series, I was very interested to see a Bourne game out. Now, movie games are usually not very good, actually, there are few examples of good movie games and Bourne Conspiracy is no exception.

The game starts a few days before where the first movie begins. Here you are creeping around the docks trying to get to the boat where your target is. To get there, your going to have to battle a few nameless henchmen, and well thats about it.

Controlling Bourne is not always the easiest task. He is a big guy and there are narrow passage ways. Combined, you get one headache after another when your trying to run and you keep running into walls. Even the slightest clip on a wall will have you running in one spot like a 1980′s treadmill. Taking cover behind walls is not always very effective nor an easy task. The game is using the unreal 3 engine, tries to give us a very Gears of War cover system, only not as effective. Think of it as how TMNT used Ubisofts prince of Persia engine.

The shooting in the game is also clunky and hard to master. Again, using the unreal 3 engine, the game uses the pop out, over the shoulder technique. And like the cover system, it fails. Getting a headshot is more difficult than getting Gary Busey to make sense when talking about anything. Now on to maybe the games only saving grace, the fighting.

The fighting system is very basic and repetitive. You combine strong and weak attacks to create combos. At first it’s a lot of fun, but after doing 30 times, you just wanna turn the game off. The animations are very predictable so blocking is very simple, and all the enemies do the same moves. Hell, this game even has one of my major pet peeves in games, repetitive character models. You beat generic guy with wrench about 15 times in one mission.

There are moments in the game that had me saying “that was awesome”. Those were the moments where you build enough adrenaline, gained by defeating enemies to trigger take down sequences. These are instant kills on enemies where you smash their head into a wall or break their fingers. These are very useful on bosses, which like the fighting, just falls short of cool.

Overall, if your a fan of the Bourne series than I would recommend you RENT the game. It follows the story line and throws in alot of filler. Other than that I would not recommend it to anyone else. The repetitive gameplay and lack of depth keep this from living up to the coolness that is Jason Bourne.

Video Games Review – Can Role Models Be Negative?

Video games encompass dealings with a user interface to cause ocular comment on a contrivance. The previous year has been an intricate one for the gaming industry with sales declining and shutting down of a number of gaming studios. Despite of this, the gaming industry has been able to cope up and make available exciting games.

We have had easy access to these games since the last 30 years. They are an exceptional mode of amusement. The modern games call for stable alertness of the players which has a positive as well as a negative bearing on the players. A question that concerns us today is the impact that these games have on children and the society at large. It allows children to experience realistic graphics besides enhancing computer literacy. Nevertheless, violent games make youth aggressive and have a negative bearing in the players’ life. Children, who plays violent games for prolonged hours develop a tendency to argue with the teachers, parents and involve in fight with friends and siblings. Eventually, there is a decline in the achievements at school.

In addition to this, they give confidence to the players to spot with and fantasy their adored characters which are known as “first-person” video games for the reason that it allows the players to embark on decisions having some bearing on the actions of their loved character. Therefore, such games are over and above than mere games that prohibit players from being accountable and meaningful part of the society.

The fact that video games have a bearing on the society cannot be overlooked. In my opinion, I believe that violent video games should be banned. I have myself witnessed kids taking the role of their favorite character and indulging in a fight. This is a serious issue which needs an attention while making games before things go too far.

Heavy Rain – Video Game Review

When a game is released with as much hype as Heavy Rain, I get a sinking feeling in my stomach. How many times previously have we been told this is the greatest game ever created, only to abandon it after 15 minutes of game play due to that felling of same old same old? I have to say before I go any further that no, Heavy Rain isn`t the greatest game ever to hit the shelves, but for a riotous and addictive assault on your senses, it comes pretty close.

Unless you`ve been on vacation to Mars recently, you can`t have failed to miss the marketing campaign. In turn, you should already know that the story revolves around a quartet of protagonists who are fighting to first track down and ultimately capture a serial killer known by the pseudonym the Origami killer. A simple premise indeed, but greatly improved by the way the story is told in an unapologetically adult manner. By adult I don`t mean graphic sex and violence, I mean that it respects the player and doesn`t patronize as so many of these types of game invariably do. You actually feel empathy with the characters as you explore their psyche, this gives a much more rewarding experience than other RPG games do.

Something that could have been made better is the non-traditional way that you interact with the setting. The buttons and sticks for the various commands are cumbersome at best, and although they don`t spoil the game play, they do get frustrating at times. The biggest downfall is the when you are trying to control the movements of your characters, there isn`t a direct link and seems to be more of a half hearted attempt. One thing I would strongly advise is to play Heavy Rain via a Dualshock3 controller. Not since Metal Gear Solid has the rumble feature been used to such great effect.

In spite of myself, I found myself really beginning to care for these protagonists and became desperate for them to succeed in their quest. There is a very real possibility of any of these characters dying, with further adds to the already nerve jangling tension. My heart rate was frequently raised, and I don`t mean by way of a cheap shock like something jumping through a window, this was through very cleverly created rising tension which I`ll admit had my hands shaking on more than one occasion. There is a bleak frankness in the way that Heavy Rain portrays suffering, pain and death, and there are occasions where you can find yourself in a situation where either outcome can have horrific consequences.

I`ve spoken to many others about their experiences playing Heavy Rain, and no two have been the same. My advice is when you go to play for the first time, don`t cheat yourself. You are taken straight to the beginning when you load the game, not to the main menu. Miss out the chapter select screen completely and go with the flow.

Although Heavy Rain is shorter than other multi-disc, so called epics, there is more than enough content to compensate and to be honest I think the experience would have been diminished by lengthening it. I give this game 9.8/10. You can guess where it lost points, yep, the controls. It`s unlikely that this game will make you cry, like the designers would have us believe, you will finish this game pretty close to a nervous wreck.

Best Video Game Review: Final Fantasy Xiii

Well, Final Fantasy XIII is out and hitting the store’s by storm! If you’re a gamer: you should know about the Final Fantasy series. It is one of the best turn-by-turn strategy rpg games out there.

The traditional FF game has changed over the years but still has the turn-by-turn strategy game play. Usually when playing FF you are set in one path to take. After play for awhile gamers get to choose a path that is open and free. Gamer has a little more freedom. Which makes FF XIII one of the best RPG game out there?

The new battle system is a lot better than previous FF. Now you can stack your attacks to better optimize the battle, the way you want in which the character has different roles in the game. The developers decided to make the game in HD which they have never done before. The cut scenes are so detailed; it actually puts gamers in the game.

Since the launch in Japan, the world has been waiting for game to be released to other countries, and now it is here. Some controversy is surrounded with the game. Some of the traditional game play that Final Fantasy is known for is gone: like the NPC, open towns and the open world. But the developers made it more of a story driven to make it more dramatic. This made some unexpected reviews of the game.

But like the generation we are in now, people rather have games more story driven. It puts gamers in the hot sit. Make us want more! Getting this game is a must. Especially, with the technology of today.

Dirt 2 Video Game Review For the Wii

There are very few racing video games that give you long game play but the newest Dirt 2 will provide many hours of game play. But you know anytime a game is good on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 then chances are the Wii is not going to be too hot.

In short, Dirt 2 on the Wii basically resembles playing the game on the PSP. So imagine how it will look on the PSP and add motion control and you have the Wii version of the game.

The game’s overall feel is extremely unpolished. Tires sound like static, the competition is not very aggressive, and the tracks are not very challenging. Things that are standard on the other two games consoles are not featured on the Wii. Simple features that should be included like cockpit mode or being able to hear music while driving is not available.

The biggest problem with Dirt 2 is that it isn’t fun. Plus there are major issues with the game controller in the Wii. Using the analog stick setup the game is not too bad to play. But using the virtual wheel was a big disappointment. There just was not enough sensitivity to my movement to move the car.

In conclusion, this is great game on the PSP. The game is okay on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. I would skip it for the Wii. If you can afford it buy Dirt 2 for the PSP and then wait for the next Need For Speed game to come out to play on the game consoles.

Panzer General Allied Assault – Video Game Review

Panzer general allied assault is a game that takes video games to new heights. It represents playing a board game and it`s even equipped with the dice and cards. It is a slow moving game and plays similar to an actual war strategy board game. Anyone who is a fan of this sort of thing will find that this game surpasses their expectations.

In the game the Americans are battling the Germans. It looks similar to a board game and the cards and dice determine al placements on the board or screen and all battles. Each scenario views the army on opposite sides as the starting point.

During battle players can take over tiles in their enemy`s home row, they can conquer a percentage of spaces and whip out rival units; they can also take the enemy`s home base.

Playing cards costs prestige points and these are earned through conquering territory and removing it after battles. There are three varied classes of cards. There are the action cards which can give you special abilities during game play. Combat cards give bonuses during engagement and you can use them to increase offensive or defensive values or soften up the enemy during a sniper attack. And unit cards can give you paratroopers artillery and various types of tanks and armoured vehicles.

The board is played on a special terrain that can make it difficult to battle in certain areas. For example in forest and hilly areas it might be hard to attack enemies there, the environmental surroundings will make it close to impossible to win. It is also not wise to attack and send troops through non-grass areas, because troops can sink and get stuck in the muddy areas.

When planning attacks there are many things to consider in this game and if careful consideration is not giving you might find yourself at the mercy of your opponent. You will need to take a look at your rivals attack abilities, layering forces and enemy positioning before you determine your strike move and theory.

The complaints seen with this video game is that the battle are too long and drawn out. And this is aided by slow dice rolls and waiting for the game to finish its text prompts explaining what to do all the time. When you try to custom your deck, the interface is so uncoordinated that it doesn`t feel right. The map terrain is not varied enough to push through to other levels quickly.

This video game acts like a board game; its bonus is that you don`t have to find people to play with. So you can turn your console on and begin the game against the system. The only drawback is if you get mad at your opponent, they won`t really know. Playing two player modes is fun too, the game can get quite interesting as you butt heads over what is happening. The idea that the cards and dice play a role, make it hard to win even if you are one very strategic player. Of course being a careful and strategic player will help you if the odds are in your favor.

It is recommended to get this game if you are into board games that make luck up to your dice and turn at cards. If however you prefer a different type of game you might find it too frustrating to play.

Bayonetta Video Game Review

Bayonetta is a game that will intrigue players just by its sheer sense of curiosity. It is a completely wacky game that tugs on every cord of imagination. The game revolves around a girl who must fight her way through the game in order to complete her mission. It is a game that will have you laughing and wondering at the same time, but in the end will have you love it to its core.

Bayonetta is not just a game that involves crazy scenes and unbelievable stunts and enemies; it also has a strong plot. Bayonetta herself is a witch that has been asleep for over five hundred years. She has waked from the bottom of the sea and has a memory that is a bit foggy. She can remember however, that she needs to find ‘The eyes of the world` and through the help of an onlooker, discovers that she must head to a city called Vigrid to find them.

The journey begins as Bayonetta stands in front of a clock face with an army of enemies behind her. The clock face falls and crumbles off of a mountain top and slams on the ground, and that is the prelude to the rest of the game. The game drifts in and out of insanity, with crazy things happening all around her. And as insane as the game is, she fits into the role as in one scene; she stores a monster up in her hair.

The combating in the game is what sets it apart from the rest. The fighting fives you the ability to perform feats and be part of the magic of the game. You can use a powerful item concoction mode, a comprehensive scoring system with leader boards and a screen disguised as a practise mode.

Bayonetta is the ultimate fighter; she has four guns that she keeps tucked into her high heeled shoes! She uses her body to punch, kick and shoot her way through the enemies that lunge at her from every corner. She can also do special attacks and torture her enemies in the most gruesome ways. She can humiliate them and conjure up creative ways to inflict pain on them. Weapons and other items become unlocked as the game unfolds and progresses. There are also hidden items and secrets to uncover as you battle through the game.

The ability for Bayonetta to dodge attacks helps her score more points. The game takes into consideration how she avoids being targeting from enemies and credits her for those moves. As she dodges moves she can also unleash, mid combo attacks, combo attacks and she can enjoy the flexibility in her fighting and what she is able to do.

There is a nifty on screen move list to help guide you through the moves she can do while playing the game. The game is on normal difficulty and is challenging, however harder levels can be exposed as progress is made.

This game is truly a gem. Playing the role of a witch on a vengeance and on a mission to solve puzzles and learn the truth is a game that evokes curiosity and interest. It is a game where the sky is the limit and no act can look surprising, if this game doesn`t have you stoked it will at least give you shock value.
